Cisapride

Cisapride is prescribed for heartburn symptom relief. Linked to serious cardiac arrhythmias, Cisapride marketing was discontinued effective July 14, 2000 after the FDA assessed the risk of death and serious conditions to be great. In 1998, the FDA warned physicians to use Cisapride only as a last resort when reports of the dangers of using Cisapride continued to be made. Cisapride contained additional warnings on its label due to the 341 FDA reports of heart rhythm abnormalities, including 80 deaths.

Cisapride was FDA approved in 1993 and had several label revisions made due to the dangers of the drug. If you would like more information on your legal rights contact us to confer with a Cisapride attorney.
