Drotrecogin

Drotrecogin was FDA approved November 21, 2001 to treat severe cases of sepsis, a life-threatening infection in the blood. The drotrecogin treatment is a genetically engineered version of a naturally occurring human protein. The side effects of drotrecogin can be very serious, including blood clots such as bleeding causing stroke.

Patients that have internal bleeding already, or have recently suffered strokes, recent head or spinal surgery, or severe head trauma should especially avoid the use of drotrecogin. The risk of drotrecogin adverse effects may be much higher than the risk of the condition and should not be used. For more information on your legal rights and options regarding drotrecogin please contact us.
