Hydroxycut® Lawsuits

Hydroxycut® lawsuits have cropped up across the United States, following severe — sometimes fatal — side effects of this controversial dietary supplement. Some of the Hydroxycut® lawsuits predate the April 2009 public advisory by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which recommended that consumers stop using all Hydroxycut® products. The advisory also noted that the agency had received reports of one death and over 20 serious injuries due to Hydroxycut® products. More lawsuits are expected.

Hydroxycut® Damages

Hydroxycut® lawsuits are the legal actions taken to obtain a remedy for the damages suffered by individuals who were hurt or killed by Hydroxycut®. The Hydroxycut® side effects caused injuries including:

• jaundice
• elevated liver enzymes
• liver damage requiring a transplant
• seizures
• heart problems
• rhabdomyolysis, a rare muscle disorder

A week after the FDA's advisory to consumers in the U.S., a Hydroxycut® class action was filed in Canada, based on the same types of injuries and damages experienced by individuals in the U.S. In fact, the range of 750 Hydroxycut® products are marketed in over 70 countries, and it is expected that further class actions will be initiated to recover the losses of injured individuals and their families.
