ADHD Drug Lots Recalled

-August 25, 2008

According to recent reports, Noven Pharmaceuticals has recalled lots of one of their medications, which is commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Lots of the drug were recalled after a defect was found that could cause potential harm to patients prescribed the medication.

Problems Found with Drug

The medication in question, Daytrana, is a drug patch that is prescribed to those with ADHD as a treatment to lessen the severity of their symptoms.

Researchers reportedly found that the liner on the patch doesn’t reach FDA specifications for a drug patch.

Patients using these particular lots of drugs could have trouble removing the liner, which could cause them not to receive the proper dosage.

Company Issues Voluntary Recall

After problems were found with Daytrana, Noven issued a voluntary recall of the patches to ensure patient safety.

“We have identified what we believe is the definitive root cause and are aggressively testing potential solutions that we expect will address the issue,” says Noven President and Chief Executive Peter Brandt.
