A national class action lawsuit against Pfizer has been launched over its recently recalled arthritis painkiller Bextra. According to the Toronto based law firm, the $550 million Bextra class action lawsuit is on behalf of Canadians who suffered adverse effects from the drug. In addition to increased risks of heart attacks and strokes that all COX-2 drugs are linked to, Bextra is also linked to a potentially deadly skin disease called Stevens Johnson syndrome.
Last week Health Canada, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Union requested Pfizer voluntarily withdraw Bextra from the market. For more information on bextra, please contact us.
