Texas Couple Files Defective Drug Suit

A couple living in Jefferson County, Texas filed a defective drug lawsuit against Centocor Pharmaceuticals, claiming the wife suffered serious injuries after taking one of the company’s arthritis medications. According to the lawsuit, Muriel Janet Jackson suffered an adverse reaction to Remicade, which was prescribed to her by her physician.

What is Remicade?

Remicade is a medication designed to treat conditions including:

  • Plaque psoriasis (PSO)
  • Rheumatois arthritis
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Adult Crohn’s disease
  • Pediatric Crohn’s disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Ankkylosing spondylitis

Plaintiff Suffered Injuries from Remicade

Jackson claims she was prescribed Remicade for arthritis, and sustained serious injuries as a result of her Remicade treatment, causing her to experience losses including:

  • Physical pain
  • Mental anguish
  • Emotional pain and suffering
  • Hefty medical expenses
  • Loss of physical capacity
  • Loss of enjoyment of life
  • Lost wages and future earning capabilities

Lawsuit Alleges Centacor Was Negligent

Jackson argues Centacor was negligent, because:

  • The company did not provide adequate information about Remicade that would have allowed her to make an informed decision as to whether she should take it
  • Provided consumers a defective and dangerous medication

In addition to Jackson’s losses, the lawsuit argues her husband, Robert Jackson, has suffered emotional injuries as well. The couple is seeking compensation for both of their losses; however the amount has not been specified.
