A suit has been filed against Merck & Co. by a Connecticut woman who claims their medication, Fosamax, caused her injuries.
Fosamax is used to treat osteoporosis and has been controversial recently due to its risks.
Woman Harmed by Medication
JoAnn Moranski, a resident of Fairfield, filed the complaint against Merck in New Jersey State court after allegedly being harmed by Fosamax.
Moranski took the drug from 1996 to 2006 and has supposedly suffered from multiple stress fractures and suppressed bone regeneration in her legs as a result.
Fosamax Under Fire
According to reports, this is not the first suit brought against Merck having to do with this medication.
An estimated 400 people have already filed suit against the drug manufacturer after being prescribed it for a bone condition known as osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Fosamax supposedly generated sales of nearly $3 billion in 2007.
Patients who have suffered from severe side effects or have been harmed by using the drug are encouraged to contact their physician immediately.
