States Agree with Drug Ruling

-August 15, 2008

According to reports, Vermont and 46 other states are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold a Vermont Supreme Court ruling against a drug manufacturer.

The manufacturer was forced to pay $6.8 million to a woman whose life was drastically altered after being injected with a medication.

Woman Injured Files Suit Against Wyeth

Diana Levine was awarded the $6.8 million after filing a lawsuit against drug manufacturer, Wyeth.

Levine was reportedly injected in April 2000 with Wyeth’s nausea medication, Phenergan.

Plaintiff’s Life Forever Altered

The medication was reportedly injected into Levine’s artery, which caused it to be severely damaged.
As a result, doctors were forced to amputate the plaintiff’s arm.

Wyeth Fights Back

Wyeth is fighting back against the verdict stating the drug was FDA approved and indicated the potential risks on its label.

However, warning or not, the majority believes the drug company should pay for the tragic outcome and altered life Levine now has to endure.
