Xiadafil VIP Tablets Seized by Authorities

-July 25, 2008

U.S. Marshals recently seized an estimated $74,000 worth of Xiadafil VIP tablets after being requested to do so by the FDA.

The tablets, which were being distributed by SEI Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Florida, have reportedly been investigated for quite some time.

Risks Found with Drug

The tablets have been marketed by their manufacturers as being a dietary supplement that helps treat erectile dysfunction and increase sexual enhancement.

However, according to the FDA, the lots that were seized were illegally marketed and contained an undeclared ingredient.

Lots Illegally Marketed

Officials from the FDA say that lots of the drugs were given away at trade shows and sold in bottles containing eight tablets.

When the company was asked to recall the product, they reportedly refused to do so, which provoked the recent seizing of the drug.

Action Taken by FDA

Even though the Xiadafil tablets were being sold as dietary supplements, the seized lots are not to be re-introduced into the market until they are rightfully approved by the FDA.

“This recent seizure action shows that FDA will take enforcement action to protect the public from dietary supplements that contain prescription ingredients that are potentially harmful to consumers,” says Margaret O’Glavin, the commissioner of the FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs.
