The Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Quebec Superior Court have approved a settlement, which has certified classes of Baycol users who suffered from rhabdomyolysis, a severe muscle disease.
Baycol was a cholesterol-lowering drug that was withdrawn from the Canadian market in August 2001 after reports of rhabdomyolysis were made. The Baycol class action lawsuit represents users suffering from rhabdomyolysis outside of British Columbia. The settlement was reached without any admission of liability from Bayer.
