Study finds conflict of interest affecting prominent medical journals
-July 13, 2004
A study by the consumer group Center for Science in the Public Interest has found that eight percent of the articles in four prominent medical journals were co-authored by researchers with undisclosed conflicts of interest. Medical and academic journals usually require authors to disclose financial ties to parties that might be benefiting from the research. This study has been released at a time where corporate influence on medical research was already under the spotlight.
