Fen phen payouts delayed

A federal judge has ordered a two-month halt on 40,000 fen phen payouts from the fen phen recall. Both fen phen's maker and lawyers representing claimants agree that the $3.75 billion settlement is underfunded and support a revision to add $1.275 billion to the fund. This would reduce payments to claimants but give a streamlined medical review. Fen phen's maker claims the restructuring would speed up payments.
