NuvaRing and Myocardial Infarction

NuvaRing, a vaginal contraceptive ring, is currently known to cause a number of serious health complications, including myocardial infarction – the medical term for nuvaring heart attack.

NuvaRing Myocardial infarction is a severe complication that results when a blood clot (another side effect of using NuvaRing) makes its way to the heart, cuts off the heart's blood supply and causes tissue death of the heart muscle. • high blood pressure
• smoking
• stroke

Following a NuvaRing Heart Attack

Women will need an alternative method of birth control, as well as:

• Blood thinning medications: While aspirin is the most commonly prescribed anti-coagulant, heparin and/or warfarin may also be administered to reduce blood clots and promote healthy circulation in heart attack patients.
• Pain relievers: Because myocardial infarction is typically marked by intense chest pain, morphine or other pain relievers may be part of the treatment for a heart attack.
• Surgery: If the heart's arteries have been permanently constricted (usually due to complications of high cholesterol), surgery may be needed to widen the arteries and help more blood get to the heart.
