Raptiva® Attorney

(800) 889-3898

Raptiva® lawyers are personal injury attorneys who specialize in recovering compensation for individuals injured after taking Raptiva® and family members of deceased Raptiva® patients.

Produced by Genentech, Raptiva® is an injectable drug used in the treatment of psoriasis, an incurable autoimmune disorder that causes red, scaly patches (plaques) on the skin.

Despite its effectiveness at reducing psoriasis plaques, Raptiva® is currently known to cause a variety of serious, potentially fatal infections, including:

  • bacterial sepsis
  • invasive fungal disease
  • progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML)
  • viral meningitis

Raptiva® patients who develop any of the above conditions should:

  • Seek emergency medical care to save their lives
  • Stop using Raptiva® and find an alternative treatment for their psoriasis
  • Meet with a Raptiva® attorney to find out if they have a case against Genentech

FDA Warnings Regarding Raptiva®

On Oct. 16, 2008, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a nationwide Raptiva® warning that:

  • Alerted the public about the life-threatening side effects associated with using Raptiva®
  • Mandated that Genentech print "black box" warnings on Raptiva® medication labels (Black box warnings are the most serious level of FDA warnings, as they highlight a drug's potential to cause fatality)

Regardless of this upgraded Raptiva® warning, because the drug is still on the market, more patients will continue to develop serious infection after using this drug.

Raptiva® Side Effects: Who's At Risk?

Although severe Raptiva® side effects are rare, some patients will have a higher risk than others of developing the above-listed infections. Those who are most likely to develop serious Raptiva® side effects include patients who have a history of:

  • Chronic infections (including those that are bacterial, fungal or viral in nature)
  • Taking immunosuppressant drugs (such as medications prescribed for organ transplants, HIV or certain types of cancer)
  • Undergoing phototherapy (a light treatment for acne, jaundice, sleep disorders, etc.)

Starting a Raptiva® Lawsuit

Patients injured after using  the Raptiva® drug, as well as families of deceased Raptiva® patients, can find out if they are entitled to compensation by setting up a free consultation with a Raptiva® lawyer. During this meeting, prospective plaintiffs will get the opportunity to:

  • Find out more about the process of pursuing a personal injury lawsuit
  • Learn more about settlements in cases similar to their own
  • Get advice about whether starting an individual Raptiva® lawsuit or joining an already-progressing class-action case is best for their individual needs and situation

To encourage affected individuals to stand up for their legal rights, Raptiva® attorneys delay payment for their services until a settlement is won.
