Remicade Liver Damage

In December 2004, Centocor and the FDA issued public health warnings about the increased risk of severe and potentially deadly Remicade liver damage. The FDA approved Remicade (infliximab), made by Centocor, to treat rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and certain other autoimmune conditions.

Centocor issued the Remicade liver damage warning after receiving reports of acute liver failure, liver disease, and other serious liver conditions such as jaundice in patients using this drug. These patients developed serious cases of Remicade liver damage anywhere from two weeks to over a year after receiving treatment.

Some patients with Remicade liver damage required liver transplants to save their lives. Others, tragically, died as a result of Remicade liver damage complications.

Symptoms of Remicade liver damage

If you or a loved one is taking Remicade, it is important to be aware of the symptoms of liver complications. You should consult your doctor at the first sign of these symptoms:

  • Dark colored urine
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Jaundice; a condition where the whites of the eyes and the skin turn yellow
  • Abdominal pain to the right side
  • Extreme unexplained fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of Appetite

If you or a loved one has suffered Remicade liver damage, you may be able to seek compensation for your losses and suffering with the help of a qualified attorney. Please contact us to speak with an attorney who can help protect your legal interests.

Other Remicade side effects

In addition to Remicade liver damage, recent studies indicate that Remicade can triple the risk of numerous forms of cancer and at least double the risk of serious and life-threatening infections . Skin problems have also been linked to this drug.

If you are concerned about the many very serious risks associated with Remicade, it is important to speak with your physician, who can help you weigh the benefits and drawbacks of continuing your treatment.

If you have suffered serious injury because of Remicade, help is available. The best way to preserve your legal rights is to contact a qualified attorney who can determine the most favorable course of action given your experiences with Remicade.
