Vanceril
Vanceril asthma drug has had certain inhalers recalled several times for defective inhalers. An inhaler that is not containing proper drug substance can result in serious complications, and Vanceril manufacturer, Schering-Plough has had inhalers not containing the drug ingredient that is needed for asthma patients.
Public Citizen consumer group findings reported that Vanceril inhalers were the probable cause of 17 deaths from September 1998 to June 2000. Ten of these Vanceril related deaths involved inhalers that matched products involved in the Vanceril recall. The FDA warned Schering-Plough in a July 1999 letter that the company was not properly testing some inhalers as they were made.
