Zelnorm Heart Attack and Other Side Effects

The Zelnorm recall followed the findings of a large data analysis comparing more than 18,000 patients who were treated with Zelnorm to more than 7,000 treated with a placebo. The analysis found that Zelnorm treatment significantly increased the risk of heart attacks as well as other adverse cardiovascular events and serious side effects, including:

• Stroke
• Reduced intestinal blood flow
• Severe diarrhea and related effects

A higher rate of death due to cardiovascular events was also observed among the Zelnorm-treated patients.
