Zyprexa Heart Attack

Studies suggest that Zyprexa patients who have a history of heart problems or are currently using certain medications may be at an increased risk of suffering a Zyprexa heart attack. No studies have been specifically designed to measure Zyprexa heart attack risks in a patient population.

Other studies have produced no solid evidence that Zyprexa use, in and of itself, puts patients at an increased risk of suffering a Zyprexa heart attack. Patients who have a history of certain cardiovascular medical conditions or are currently taking medication for high blood pressure may wish to discuss the risk of suffering a Zyprexa heart attack with their doctor prior to commencing treatment.

Zyprexa is an atypical antipsychotic medication produced by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. Zyprexa was approved by the FDA in 1996 to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Zyprexa also has a number of "off-label" uses, namely Alzheimer's and related dementia conditions.

These off-label uses have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA and may carry their own risks and benefits. Studies have indicated that patients taking Zyprexa for Alzheimer's and dementia are at an increased risk of suffering a stroke or other life threatening side effects. Studies have also shown that the greatest risk posed to Zyprexa patients is the risk of developing diabetes and related health complications. These risks far exceed those of Zyprexa heart attack risks, though both are important for patients to be fully informed about.

Zyprexa heart attack risks are greater in patients who have a history of heart problems and other physical ailments. Patients with a history of heart attacks, heart disease, or high blood pressure are more likely to suffer from blood pressure conditions, abnormal heart rate, dizziness, fainting, and Zyprexa heart attack than other patient populations. These Zyprexa heart attack and related risks may increase under certain physical states such as dehydration, stress, and other times of compromised health.

If you have a history of heart problems, you may wish to speak to your health care provider about the risks of a Zyprexa heart attack. It is important for patients to weigh the intended benefits of this medication against Zyprexa heart attack and other serious risks before deciding if this medication is appropriate. It is vital to share all information about your medical history and current use of prescription medications and supplements with your health care professional prior to commencing Zyprexa treatment.

If you or a loved one has suffered a Zyprexa heart attack, you may wish to speak to a qualified and experienced attorney who can help determine your rights and options in a legal case to seek compensation for what you have lost.
